I have always admired Keri Hilson from afar!

She’s so beautiful. I love the lyrics she’s written, even when it wasn’t for herself. I remember going to her myspace page and listening to her songs before her album was ever released. She was different. Then the rest of the world found out about her. She was on the rise...Then suddenly, we didn’t hear from her.

In recent years, she has explained that she was in a deep, dark, depressive state. This statement pulls at me. It’s like the state of our nation - we have so much - yet it’s still not enough. I reflect on how I used to feel when I was a young girl. Where it seemed I had so much to be grateful for on the outside, yet I had so little on the inside. It’s so important as society tells us to work on our physical fitness and showing that we have it together, that we keep our minds and thoughts in shape too. Here are a  few tips to make sure we are taking care of ourselves psychologically:

  1. Social Media: It’s ok to take a break from the perfection of personal highlight reels. If you find yourself constantly in comparison, or unhappy at the end of closing out your Instagram, it is time to step away! If you run a business and need to be on social media for marketing purposes, post it and leave it. Do NOT stay.
  2. Be Content: Appreciate who YOU are and what you bring to the table. Make a list of things you do great. Make a list of things you love about yourself. Put it where you can see it. Read the list every morning you wake up and right before you lay down. Read it in the middle of the day when you feel overcome during the day.
  3. Have Accountability: This is an area I needed help in. Sometimes when we are strong, it’s hard to let others see us weak. We tend to isolate ourselves. In isolation, those negative thoughts can maximize where we intended to better manage. But, it’s important to have someone you trust to be available to talk to and talk through things with. They can help you keep a better perspective.

No matter what may be happening on the outside, it’s no match for who you are on the inside. So take care of yourself. Whether you’re a stay-at-home mom or mega-platinum recording artist, the world needs you. Make sure you are at your best!

Good night just laying here thinking how I use to calling faithfully every week on the prayer line I introduced one of my co-worker to this line & she loved it,but for some reason tonight as I stepped out the shower I felt so down & out after losing my one & only sister my emotions been up & down but tonight I was really frustrated & down,
I started talking to GOD I asked God I need strength I need prayer..then I remembered bosses that prayed same time I called in put mg word in..instantly sister started praying for me..i feel so much better thank you guys so much I love & appreciate this prayer line so much I won’t get off track this time I will stay focus & call in every Wednesday.
