What Steve Harvey Taught Us About Closed Doors

Last month a video clip of Steve Harvey doing his morning show started floating around social media.

In that 60 second clip, Steve mentions doors closing in 2019. In this small, but very informative, motivational, and inspiring clip Steve talks about God being in control. He reminds us that no matter what these “higher-ups” hold, they are not higher than God; they don’t control your destiny. They only have control over the things that are in their possession, but God will always have the final say. God can open doors no man can shut and He can close doors that no man can open. No matter how many doors society may deem you not worthy of, the God who sits on a throne, our Most High of all things good, can say otherwise. One touch from God’s hand can change the trajectory of your life. Steve is telling us to not be fearful or worry about doors closing because God will always have something better and greater for us to walk through. Steve lets us know that a closed door is not a missed opportunity, but rather a protection from something that could hurt us.

When you begin to look at things from God’s vantage point instead of your own, you get to see what He sees. Sometimes it’s good that we don’t get everything that we want. If we walked through every door that opened for us we would come out on the other side of those doors torn up. We would be pulled in so many directions that we wouldn’t even know which way was up or down. It’s important to understand that that closed door doesn’t mean you weren’t good enough for the opportunity, it just means that the opportunity wasn’t ready to receive you. Before God places you, He will prepare you. The will of God will never take you where His love will not keep you. You have to understand that God wants to take you from glory to glory and each new level requires a better and stronger version of you. You will need a new level of strength, tenacity, discernment, wisdom, creativity, etc. We all have a platform and a sphere of influence. No matter how big or small your platform may be, you have to be prepared for anything that will come in opposition. The enemy will try to use the platform God has given you against you if you are not properly prepared.

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened, Matthew 7:7-8.

Be not worried when doors are closing, because the will of God will always prevail for the betterment of you. Take those no’s and turn them into another opportunity because that is all that they are. No’s are opportunities for you to grow and create another lane for yourself. Don’t be deceived by what the world is trying to sell you or tell you, God is MOVING! In order for you to walk through those doors, He has ready for you-you must be in alignment with Him mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. He needs you at 100% because where He is taking you, you must be able to maneuver with excellence. Keep doing those things that may seem odd to everyone else, but because you are staying in obedience, those things will be stepping stones to get you to your next level.

Realize that 2019 is the year of opportunities. Stay close to God and He will show you great and mighty things.
